Is there a panic button I can hit? Or better yet, a
button that will pause this whole scene while I figure out how I want to play
it?
But no. That's not how it works in real life. [Catherine McKenzie, Forgotten]
I have been wondering a similar wondering. It is NOT so much
panic that I am wanting to Pause, just all the thoughtsandfeelings running in
and out too fast for me to discern the ones to attend to and the ones to Let
BE.
It seems easier than breathing to disappoint people these
days…
Human freedom involves our capacity to pause between
the stimulus and response and, in that pause, to choose the one response toward
which we wish to throw our weight. The capacity to create ourselves, based upon
this freedom, is inseparable from consciousness or self-awareness. [Rollo May, The Courage to Create]
And then there is the capacity to discover ourselves that
can sometimes get in the way of creating ourselves. As I am finding my way back
to myself, NOT back to BEfore the hospital, back to the ME I know, I find no
space BEtween stimulus and response, or reaction. This is rather hard…
...when everything changes, I need a bookmark - I need you... [John Geddes, A Familiar Rain]
It’s true.
I love you, Currie
