Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that
resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination…
… Select only things to steal from that speak directly
to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic.
Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother
concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case,
always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from
- it’s where you take them to. [MovieMaker Magazine #53 - Winter, January 22, 2004 ] [Jim Jarmusch]
I often worry about the art I make and even the words I
write. DO they speak in my voice or in those of my inspirations?!
Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very
long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things,
because we're curious...and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. [Walt Disney Company]
I try to live Life with this attitude. Staying curious is
how I respect my creativity, and creativity generally.
… I think it is only important to love the world, not
to despise it, not for us to hate each other, but to be able to regard the
world and ourselves and all beings with love, admiration and respect. [Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha]
Makes me pause…
I love you, Currie
